I'm building a new PC mainly for gaming and doing some content creation work in Premiere Pro, where I usually render around 4-5 hours each week. I'm considering the Intel Core Ultra 265K, but I'm feeling hesitant due to Intel's plans to switch sockets again soon. I really don't want to invest in a dead-end platform. On the flip side, while the AMD 9800X3D seems to be strong for gaming, it might not be as good for editing, although I'd have the AM5 socket support for a longer time. Should I go for one of these CPUs now, or would it be better to wait for the upcoming Intel 300 series? I'm fine with waiting a few months if it makes sense. Thanks for any insights!

If you're leaning toward high performance for both rendering and gaming, the 9950X3D is an excellent choice, though I know it's pricier. It really gives you the best of both worlds if it fits in your budget!
The Intel Core Ultra 265K is a solid value for content creation! I actually built a system with a 285K, which is also great for that purpose. If you plan to keep your setup for at least four years like I do, the socket longevity might not be a major issue for you. After a few years, technology evolves so much that you'll want to upgrade other components anyway. But if you like to switch out CPUs every couple of years, AMD could be the way to go. Just remember that the AM5 will probably be outdated when AM6 comes along in 1-2 years.
The chipping was a great planning, with no issues on the video stuff. The 9950X3D would be the best option between both CPUs if you're looking for high performance in rendering and gaming! If you prefer to spend less, look into the 9900X to keep the performance without overextending your budget.
