I'm currently in college and I have a Windows laptop provided by my school. I've been thinking about getting a Chromebook for personal use, especially for streaming movies and shows. Do you think it's a good investment for this purpose?

So if you're looking for a low-end tablet experience with a keyboard that may only last a couple of years, a Chromebook could be okay.
Oh ok thanks for clarifying that!
Just keep in mind that if you're planning to use it with Linux or need to run many applications, Chromebooks can be pretty locked down and limited in that way.
I've been using a Chromebook for my everyday tasks and honestly, it's been great! They’ve come a long way since they first launched. I watch a ton of streaming content like YouTube and Disney+, and also work in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace regularly. I even have a Mac and a mini PC at home, but I still find myself using my Chromebook the most.
As a computer repair tech, I can tell you that Chromebooks are pretty much like tablets with keyboards. If you're mainly looking to use it for streaming services and mobile apps, it should work well for you. But if you plan to do anything more intensive, you might want to consider other options. You could even go for a budget tablet, which might be cheaper and do the job just fine.
Oh ok, that makes sense!
That sounds great, I'm glad to hear that!
