I'm putting together a new PC build and have already chosen most of my components, but I haven't decided on a cooler yet. I'm looking for an air cooler since I'd prefer something that requires less maintenance than an AIO cooler. Here's what I'm working with:
- Motherboard: ASUS X870E-E ROG Strix
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950x3D
- GPU: PowerColor AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Reaper
- RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 Series (2x 16GB)
- SSD: Samsung 990 PRO 2TB
- PSU: Lian Li EDGE GOLD 850 Watt
I know the Ryzen 9 is a powerful chip that generates a lot of heat, so I want to make sure I choose the best cooler for it. Price isn't really a problem for me, I just want something that will keep my CPU cool and reliable.

I’ve heard good things about the Royal Pretor 130. It’s compact and performs well if you’re looking for something smaller.
If you’re looking for the best of the best, you can’t go wrong with the Noctua NH-D15 G2. They’re loud but incredibly efficient at cooling. I get that the color design isn't for everyone though!
Peerless Assassin 140 is a fantastic choice if it fits in your case, otherwise the Peerless Assassin 120 is a solid alternative. Just remember, the 120 might be a tad noisier when pushed to its limits.
Both the Phantom Spirit and the Peerless Assassin are excellent air coolers that would handle your Ryzen 9 really well. If you have the space in your case, the Peerless Assassin 140 is a great option, but the 120 will work too if you're tight on space, just a bit louder.
Are you suggesting the 120 or 140? Is there really a performance difference between the two?

I've seen the Noctua gets rave reviews, but honestly, I can't get over the brown color scheme. It's a big turn-off for me.
