I'm trying to help my friend choose a Linux distro for her HP Omen laptop which has an Intel i7 9th gen processor and an Nvidia 1650 graphics card. She's interested in trying Arch Linux, but I'm worried it might be too complicated for her, especially concerning driver issues. I was thinking of suggesting Bazzite or Pop!_OS, but I'd love to hear any other recommendations.

If she’s into aesthetics, Garuda can be a fun choice with its vibrant themes, or Cachy OS if she prefers a simple setup. But don’t judge a distro by its colors! It’s all about what she feels comfortable using.

It really depends on what she plans to do with her laptop. If she’s mainly programming and gaming, she might not want to deal with the hassle of Arch. How about suggesting something like Linux Mint? It's generally user-friendly and stable, especially for beginners.

While some suggest Arch, remember it has a steeper learning curve. Suggest she does some 'distro hopping' to see what she likes best before fully committing to one!

EndeavourOS is a great option since it's based on Arch but is friendlier for newcomers. It's nice to have some guidance without getting too deep into the complexities of Arch itself. There are also some good reviews comparing it to Arch that you can check out!

Encourage her to try Arch if she’s interested! If it gets tricky, help her troubleshoot. If it doesn’t work out, she can always switch to something more user-friendly. Besides, experimenting with different distros could help her find the perfect fit.

If your friend is eager to try Arch, maybe just let her dive in. She’s a programmer, so she might have the skills and patience needed to install and set it up. Why not let her take the lead?
