I'm currently using a 1050ti and an i5 7400. My main gaming setup is a console, but I'm looking to upgrade my PC for some exclusive indie games. With a budget of about $300, what would you recommend I upgrade to?

With your budget, a solid upgrade would be to grab a Ryzen 5 5500, an AM4 motherboard, and possibly a faster memory kit if your current one is below DDR4-3200. That should cost around $200 new, or even less if you skip the memory. You could then save the rest for a used RTX 2060 or something similar.
It might be tough to upgrade both your CPU and GPU with just $300. I’d suggest investing your whole budget into a better GPU right now and hold off on the CPU upgrade until you have more funds. The RTX 5060 could be a decent choice within that range.
I’m thinking I don’t need such a powerful GPU. I was more inclined towards options like the 1660 Super or 2060. I plan to look at used parts to save some cash.
I totally agree with TechSavvyGuru. Also, check out local marketplaces to sell your old components to help fund the upgrade. It could really stretch your budget.

For indie games, that should work just fine!
