Hey everyone! I recently upgraded from a Ryzen 2700X to a Ryzen 5800X, which is my motherboard's final hurrah. Currently, I'm using 3200 RAM and still have my trusty GTX 1080, which has been handling games like BF6 decently at 45-60 FPS. I'm looking for recommendations on a video card that offers great value for the price, something that can keep my rig gaming for the next 3-4 years. I've heard some talks about the 5060 Ti 16GB, 5070, and 9070 XT. My monitor is a 1440 ultrawide 144Hz, and while I don't expect to hit 144 FPS, getting 120 FPS on older or well-optimized games would be nice. I'd prefer to stick to a budget of $600, but I'm open to suggestions if there's a good argument for spending more, like future-proofing.

For 1440p ultrawide, a 5070 Ti would be great. But if you're aiming for 60 FPS in more demanding games, the 5060 Ti with 16GB should still be a solid upgrade from your 1080. It really comes down to whether you want a noticeable boost in performance or a more significant upgrade with the 5070 Ti. Just keep in mind that for ultrawide, the VRAM of the cards might become an issue.
If you’re looking to game at 4K, consider a 5090 to minimize bottlenecking, especially since you have a decent 8-core processor.
I went for the 5060 Ti 16GB myself. I wanted to dabble in local AI projects. I have an older 3700X setup and while I can’t max out games, I play Cyberpunk at 4K upscaled, 120Hz, with decent settings and DLSS. My old GTX 1080 Ti works as a secondary card for extra tasks, but I’m unsure how well it’ll handle lossless scaling. Overall, the 5060 Ti was worth it for me!

I'd suggest waiting for the 5070 Super with 18 GB of VRAM. That seems like it would be a great fit for your needs and future-proofing. Fingers crossed it comes out soon!

I don’t think a 1080 Ti will manage lossless scaling well, but that's just my experience.
