Hey everyone! I'm looking for advice on upgrading from my current 5600x for better 1440p gaming performance. Would switching to the 7800x3d be a good idea? Would I need to get an AM5 motherboard for that? Also, how much do DDR5 RAMs impact overall performance? My budget is around $600 to $800, but I can stretch it a bit if needed. Thanks for your help!

Before deciding, what's your resolution and target FPS? Knowing what games you play can really help tailor the advice!
Do you already own a 1440p monitor? If you have it, a card like the Arc b580 12GB or Rx 9060xt 16GB would work great with your current CPU.
Honestly, upgrading the GPU might be better first if you're looking for a boost. However, moving forward without updating the CPU isn’t ideal. If you're tight on budget, waiting for newer models might be worth it.
To switch to the 7800x3d, you'd definitely need to upgrade to an AM5 motherboard along with DDR5 RAM, as your current setup is incompatible.
I’m okay with upgrading to AM5. For what it’s worth, I mainly play CPU-heavy games like Total War, DOTA2, and Stellaris.

My budget is between $600 and $800, but I'm flexible.
