How can I tell if my device is still compromised?

A little while ago, I posted about some weird activity on my computer, including strange spending on my accounts, which led me to believe I might have been hacked. To try and fix this, I reinstalled Windows, but it saved my old files into a folder, which didn't seem like enough of a cleanup. To be extra cautious, I even swapped out my SSD. I had Norton antivirus already, and I reinstalled it since I had paid for it. However, now every time I open Firefox, there's a pop-up saying it's dealing with a threat. Should I be worried about this, or is it safe to cancel my Norton subscription?

Honestly, it might be time to ditch Norton altogether. Many people consider it more of a nuisance than a help these days. You might want to just rely on Windows Defender as it’s generally sufficient for most users. Also, considering you've replaced your SSD, there's a good chance your system is clean unless you've reintroduced a threat somehow. If you’re getting a threat pop-up, it could be related to a phishing link you clicked on or even a false positive from Norton. Make sure to close any suspect tabs and consider getting an ad blocker to prevent that from happening again.

Thanks for the advice! I'm really frustrated with Norton trying to upsell me all the time. Can you recommend a good ad blocker?
