Understanding ElastiCache Serverless Pricing Confusion

I'm a bit puzzled by the charges for ElastiCache Serverless with Valkey. We only have less than 10 MB of cached data, yet I'm being billed for 1 GB. According to the pricing page, it states that the minimum metered data storage is 100 MB per cache. So, I should only be charged for 0.1 GB, right? They also claim that you can start for as low as $6 a month, but I'm not sure how to make that happen! By the way, the number of transactions doesn't seem to add significantly to the cost.

I'd suggest contacting the Account & Billing support team directly. They can give you the best insights into your specific situation. You can reach them through the Support Center, and using their phone or chat option might speed things up!

Yeah, it’s definitely confusing! Just keep in mind that while the minimum pricing is lower for ElastiCache Serverless compared to other services, the billing can still be tricky! Just make sure to monitor your usage closely.

That's good to know! I guess I need to keep a closer eye on my caches.

Absolutely! Better safe than sorry!

From what I've seen, the pricing documentation mentions that each ElastiCache Serverless cache is metered for a minimum of 1 GB of data. So, technically, you're right in thinking you should be charged less, but it looks like they have that minimum threshold in place for billing purposes. It can be a bit misleading!

That's interesting! I had no idea about the minimum charge. Do you think there's a way to get around it?

TechSavant89 -

Not really; it seems like it's a fixed policy unless they adjust it.
