Why Are My PC Games Lagging Despite Fast Wi-Fi?

I've been struggling with an issue for nearly two years where all the PC games I try to play lag significantly, even though my Wi-Fi speed is decent. I've got a high-end PC and I've even swapped out the Wi-Fi cards twice, so I don't think it's related to graphics. The weird part is that my PlayStation 5, which is in the same room, runs online games perfectly. Speed test results indicate that my PC should be able to handle online gaming just fine. I'm starting to lose hope. Is there anything I can do to resolve this?

First off, what speed does your connection show when you test it? Using the command prompt to ping a server can help identify packet loss or high ping issues that might be causing the lag. Just type 'ping google.com' in the command prompt to check this out.

I usually get around 100mbps. What exactly do I need to type to check the ping?

Just to clarify, do your games lag when you play them offline as well? That could help pin down if it's purely a network issue or something going on with your system itself. Also, make sure you don’t have any heavy background processes running that could be eating up resources.

Swapping the Wi-Fi card doesn’t necessarily mean your graphics are fine. Make sure your monitor is connected to the graphics card outputs (like HDMI or DisplayPort) and not into the motherboard. Can you drop your PC specs? That might give more clues about the problem!

It might help to check your PC specs. Sometimes lagging games can be due to storage type. If you're running games off an HDD instead of an SSD, that could slow things down significantly because of lower load speeds. Also, make sure your games are installed on the correct drive.
