I'm really frustrated because my PC just won't go to sleep. This issue started about a year ago, but I only began troubleshooting it three months back. When I try to put it to sleep using the Start menu or power button, the monitor turns off, but the fans keep running for 20-30 minutes. I'm running Windows 10 Home 64-bit, and I've tried everything I can think of to fix it:
- I've checked powercfg to see what's preventing sleep.
- Disabled all peripheral devices.
- Checked the BIOS settings.
- Applied overrides for different drivers.
- Disabled hibernate.
- Turned off fast boot, network packages, hybrid sleep, and wake timers.
- Adjusted power plans.
I'm at a loss and tired of either force shutting down or watching my power bill climb since the PC doesn't sleep after 30 minutes. My specs are an Intel i7-14700K with 32GB RAM and an RTX 3090.

Have you tried disabling wake timers? I’m on Win11, but I had a similar issue. It was a mix of disabling wake from Ethernet and hibernate that finally worked for me. Also, check what powercfg reported. You might want to run `powercfg /sleepstudy` and see if you get any clues from the report file in your system folder about what's waking your PC.
I had a similar issue where my PC wouldn’t shut down right. Try running `chkdsk C: /scan` in the command prompt to check for corruption on your boot drive. If it finds any issues, reinstall Windows and remember to delete the old files in temporary files afterwards. This worked for me, so hopefully it helps you!
I checked, and it found no problems. So, I guess that won't fix my issue.
Isn’t it normal for the fans to keep running when the PC is asleep? If you want it to stop completely, maybe try shutting it down instead.
I did disable the wake timers and hibernate. Powercfg says HDAudio, but I was listening to music at the time and made an override request for that device. Regarding sleepstudy, I tried that, and it showed my PC stayed active the entire time I put it to sleep.
