Why Is My PC Going to Sleep Instead of Turning Off?

I noticed that whenever I try to turn off my PC, it doesn't completely shut down; instead, it seems to go into sleep mode. I usually move my mouse or press a key after pressing the power button, and then the computer turns back on. There was even a time when it turned on by itself without any input from me. Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong?

It happens to me sometimes, but not regularly. It might be a glitch. Just make sure you're using the correct shut down method!

Check your power settings! Press the Windows key, go to the power plan settings, and look for the option to change what the power buttons do. Make sure to disable 'turn on fast startup'—that might fix your issue.

If you're just hitting the power button, that's probably putting it in sleep mode. The proper way is to go to the start button, select shut down, and if that doesn’t work, you can hold the power button for about 8-15 seconds for a hard shutdown.

How do you usually shut it down? Do you click 'shut down' in the Windows menu or just press the power button? If your keyboard or mouse is plugged into a red USB port, that could be a problem since those can still send power signals and wake the PC. Double-check your connections!
