Is Upgrading My GPU Worth It for Better Gaming Performance?

I'm considering upgrading my GPU to enhance my gaming experience, especially for playing games like Battlefield 6 at higher settings and frame rates without replacing my whole setup. Here are my current specs:

- CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x
- GPU: RTX 2070
- Mainboard: Asus Prime x470-pro
- PSU: 650 Watt bequiet Straight Power 11 Modular 80+ Gold
- RAM: 16 GB DDR4-3200

I'm looking into either the RX 7700 XT or RX 9070 XT (16GB), but I'm uncertain if my PSU and motherboard can handle those upgrades or if I would need to replace them too. I've heard of others successfully using a 7700 XT with the 5800x on a 650W PSU, but I know that it's below the recommended minimum. Plus, I also use a GoXLR with a Shure SM7B, which probably consumes more power than a typical gaming headset.

Right now, I can run Battlefield 6 at low to medium settings with around 50-60 FPS, but if I can improve my experience for around $400, I'd be interested. Any advice or suggestions would really help!

Going for an RTX 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT would greatly enhance your gaming experience. Your current PSU should handle the upgrade, as manufacturers typically factor in less reliable PSUs when giving recommendations. Just make sure to avoid overclocking to keep everything stable!

I've had my PSU for about 7 years. Does it degrade over time? Should I be worried?

Definitely look into getting the 9070 XT before prices increase due to the ongoing DRAM shortage. It's a much better investment than the 7700 XT, especially with prices expected to rise. Just make sure it's a good fit for your whole setup before purchase, and you won’t regret it!

I didn't know the prices were climbing that fast! The 9070 XT is a bit pricier compared to the 9060 XT 16GB, but I don't want to be bottlenecked by my current setup. I need to ensure everything works together before I decide.

The RTX 5070 Ti would fit nicely into your system and really boost your performance! I think it would make a huge difference in your gaming experience.

How much better would it be compared to the RX 9060 XT 16GB? There's a significant price difference here in Germany.

The RX 7700 XT and 9070 XT offer very different performance levels. I'd lean towards the 9060 XT 16GB for cost effectiveness. Plus, with new tech like FSR Redstone just around the corner, it might be a smart choice unless you plan on upgrading your CPU too. The 9070 XT is a solid option if your budget allows, but you might need more from your CPU to really make use of it.

I guess I should check out performance reviews to compare. The 9060 XT seems like the best bet for me now, especially since I want to avoid a complete system overhaul for a couple of years.
