I accidentally spilled some caramel macchiato on my table, and some of it got under my laptop, which was powered off at the time. I've dried off what I could from the outside, but now I'm unsure if it's safe to power it on. Could this cause further issues, or should I just take it to a tech support service?

If you’re using a netbook like the Monster Abra A5, just be cautious. Even with rubber pads, they don't sit too high, which could make it more vulnerable to spills. Since it was sugary coffee, there’s a chance it could stick or cause future issues, so consider waiting a little longer or getting a professional to look at it.
You should be fine to turn it on, as long as not too much liquid got inside. Since your laptop wasn't powered on during the spill, the risk is lower. Just keep in mind that the back is usually an exhaust area, so it helps prevent liquids from seeping in deeply.
What model is your laptop? Depending on the design, it might have some rubber feet that keep it elevated from the table surface. You could even take off the bottom cover to check inside for any signs of moisture—better safe than sorry!
