I'm currently gaming on a GeForce RTX 3060 paired with a Ryzen 7 5800. I play mostly at 1440p, and I'm trying to decide which component to upgrade first. I'm considering upgrading to a Ryzen 7 7700X and moving to the AM5 platform, but I'm unsure if I should stick with AM4 and upgrade my GPU instead. What do you think? I usually play games like Rust, Apex Legends, Escape from Tarkov, and Call of Duty.

It sounds like your 3060 might be the bottleneck, especially if you're gaming at 1440p with high settings. If you're hitting 100% GPU load during gameplay, then upgrading the GPU is likely your best move. A good upgrade would be something like an RX 9070 or a 5070, which should pair well with your current CPU. Just keep in mind that Tarkov is quite CPU-intensive, so an x3d chip would definitely help with that.
If you're into Escape from Tarkov, I'd say save up for an x3d chip and upgrade your CPU first. That game really benefits from a solid CPU.
I'm kind of in the same boat with my R7 5700X and 3060 combo. I haven't settled on an upgrade yet, but I tend to prefer Nvidia graphics. I like to keep my system balanced since I mainly play older games.
You might want to think about your budget first! Since you're already playing at 1440p, I suggest grabbing a RX 9070 XT and sticking with AM4 for now; DDR5 prices are pretty steep at the moment.
You could get a 7700X with a 7700XT for about £600, which offers performance that's pretty close to the 5070. That might be worth considering if you decide to go with AM5.

I'm totally with you on keeping AM4. The costs for AM5 parts are just too high right now.
