How Can I Create a Linux-Like Environment on Windows?

I recently upgraded to a faster computer, but I can't install Linux on it due to warranty concerns. I have a large workspace filled with various old open-source tools that I've been using on Linux. I'm looking to replicate a Linux-like environment on Windows without messing anything up. What would you recommend as the most convenient method? Should I use a virtual machine, WSL, Docker, or something else? Thanks in advance for your help!

Actually, installing Linux might not void your warranty depending on your jurisdiction. However, it's understandable to be cautious if the manufacturer warns against it. What I recommend is using WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux). It's great because you can do almost everything you would in a native Linux environment at near-native speeds, without the hassle of managing separate virtual machines or worrying about compatibility.

Exactly! WSL is a solid choice for development tasks, and it minimizes risks. If you're more familiar with a specific Linux setup, you might also consider Docker for running containers, but WSL should cover most use cases.
