I'm planning to upgrade my PC, and I think it's time to switch out my CPU. I recently got a new GPU (GTX 1660 Ti) from a friend, and it feels like my current CPU (Ryzen 5 2600) is holding back my performance. Here's my current setup:
- 32GB RAM
- Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard
- AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor
- GTX 1660 Ti
What CPU would you recommend I upgrade to, considering my budget is under $400? Thanks for any advice!

It really depends on your budget! But options like the Ryzen 7600X, 7700X, or even the 5800X3D are great for gaming at any resolution. Just keep in mind compatibility with your motherboard!
Since you mentioned your budget is around $400, you could go for the Ryzen 7600 with a B650 motherboard and some DDR5 RAM. If you're looking for something compatible with your current setup, a Ryzen 5700X3D could give you solid performance at a reasonable price.
Thanks for the advice! I've checked and it seems like my motherboard isn't compatible with many newer CPUs, so I may need to consider a new one.
