I'm experiencing a frustrating issue with my Wi-Fi connection. Both my HP Victus 15 gaming laptop and my mobile device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, yet I'm only getting about 3 Mbps on my laptop while my mobile device is clocking in at 40 Mbps. I've ensured that all my drivers are up to date, and this problem began about two months ago. Prior to that, my internet speed was perfectly fine. Additionally, I ran a BIOS network test that confirmed there are no hardware issues, and the Wi-Fi module seems to be functioning normally. What could be causing such a significant difference in speeds?

It sounds like a couple of things could be going on. Have you checked if your laptop's Wi-Fi antennas might be disconnected? If your laptop has never been opened, that might not be the issue, but it’s worth ruling out. Also, make sure you’re connected to the 5GHz band instead of the 2.4GHz since 5GHz usually offers better speeds if you're close enough to the router. Sometimes, the Wi-Fi radio in your laptop can start failing, making it look like everything is fine but actually resulting in poor performance.
Check your laptop settings! Sometimes the power settings can throttle Wi-Fi performance. Go into your network adapter settings and ensure that it's set to maximum performance. Also, consider running a speed test on the laptop connected to the 2.4GHz band versus 5GHz. It might uncover something interesting!
