Is RTX 5070 Good Enough for Future-Proofing 1080p Gaming?

I'm considering whether I need the RTX 5070 and a Ryzen 5 7500F for 1080p gaming, especially since I want my PC to last without needing updates for the next 4-5 years. I'm open to lowering settings in the future if needed. What do you think?

The RTX 5070 is actually more suited for 1440p, but it'll handle 1080p gaming with ease. If you're looking for more frame rates, that’s great, but I’d suggest looking at something like the 5060 Ti or RX 9060 XT instead, especially since they can do well at 1080p with 16GB RAM.

For your needs, the 5070 will work fine. However, I would recommend the RX 9070 if you're okay with the same price point of around $550. It generally outperforms the 5070 by about 10-15% in many games and has 4GB more RAM, which is a bonus for unoptimized textures at 1080p. If you're set on Nvidia features like ray tracing and DLSS, then the 5060 Ti could be a more budget-friendly option.
