I'm helping a friend's kid build their first PC, and I'm feeling pretty out of touch since it's been about five years since I built my own. RAM prices seem wild these days, and I've heard it's partly due to AI advancements. Anyway, I've got a list of components over on PCPartPicker that I'm working with. I'm trying to figure out which GPU would be the best fit for this setup among the options I'm considering:
- RTX 5070
- RTX 5060
- RTX 9060
The kid's budget is around $1500, so I'm also looking for ways to scale down the build if necessary. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey! If you're looking at those GPUs, I'd recommend going for the RTX 5070 if he can stretch the budget a bit. It offers great performance for gaming at 1080p and 1440p. The RTX 5060 is decent too but might not hold up as well for future-proofing. The 9060 is a bit overkill for budget gaming right now. Also, you might want to check out used GPUs if you're open to that; you can often find great deals!
I’d suggest taking a look at benchmarks for those GPUs. The 5070 sounds solid, but don’t forget to consider the overall build balance. Sometimes spending a bit less on the GPU can let you invest more in a better CPU or cooler—they're also important for gaming performance.
Thanks for the tip! I didn’t think of that, I’ll check the benchmarks to see how they stack up.

Totally agree with you. The 5070 is definitely the sweet spot for performance without breaking the bank.
