Should I upgrade from an R5 5600 to a 5800XT or a 5700X3D?

Hey everyone! I'm debating whether to upgrade my R5 5600 to either the 5800XT or the 5700X3D, especially given current pricing. I'm planning to pair this upgrade with my new RTX 5070 since I mainly play Battlefield 6, which is quite CPU-intensive, and it runs smoothly on the new GPU with games like Deadlock. The prices for the 5700X3D are a bit steep right now, and honestly, I'm not keen on switching to AM5 due to the high DDR5 costs. I'd really like to make my AM4 setup last a few more years. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I made the switch from a 5800X to a 5700X3D and saw a huge difference in CPU-heavy games like World of Warcraft. Considering today's higher CPU and RAM prices, I paid roughly 280 euros before they spiked, but currently, I've found them around 308 euros online. Might be worth it if you're okay with less guarantee on purchases, since it could be a solid investment for performance.

It's tough with how high RAM prices have become too. I need to ensure it’s worth it since I'm planning to keep this build for a while.

I've spotted some 5700X3Ds for about $280 on eBay, but the 5800XT is only $160 on Amazon. Seems like a tough choice!

The debate has often been that the 7600 is comparable to the 5700X3D, which might make it worthwhile to transition to AM5 if you can sell your current setup. However, here in the US, the 5800XT runs around $200 but gives you just a 5-10% performance boost. The 5700X3D goes for about $275 and offers a 15-20% gain at best. When you break it down, spending nearly $300 for a few extra frames, like 30 FPS, doesn't seem like it justifies the cost.

Right? It's tricky because you can grab a 5800XT for $160, but the 5700X3D is almost double. The timing really is a pain.

Honestly, I would go for the 5700X3D as a complete upgrade. You're only looking at a 5-10% performance improvement with the 5800XT at best, while the 5700X3D can give you a solid 30% boost, particularly in terms of smoother performance thanks to the 3D V Cache. Yes, it’s about $300, but considering your options, it’s a better long-term investment. Plus, it pairs well with the 5070 Ti, so you'll be in great shape for future games!

That’s good to know! I just picked up a 5070 after my 2080 died. If it works that well with the 5700X3D, I might just take the plunge. Kind of frustrating they stopped making AM4 X3D chips.
