What budget upgrades can I make for a 1080p gaming setup?

I recently refurbished my son's old PC for budget gaming and here are the specs:
- Intel i5 11400f CPU
- Radeon RX 6600 8GB GPU
- 16GB DDR4 RAM
- B560M Plus motherboard
- 650W power supply

This setup runs many older games pretty well at 1080p, but I'm wondering what budget-friendly upgrades I can make to enhance performance and maybe future-proof the system a bit. For instance, would a GPU with 16GB of VRAM be a worthwhile investment?

Could you provide the specific models of your components? Knowing the exact parts is super helpful in determining the best upgrade options to fully optimize your setup.

Sure! Here’s the breakdown:
- Intel Core i5 11400F CPU
- ASUS TUF Gaming B560M-Plus motherboard
- Crucial 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 RAM, 3200MHz
- Lexar NM610 Pro 1TB NVMe SSD
- Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 6600 8GB GPU
- Corsair CX650 Bronze PSU
- Thermalright Assassin X90 DE cooler
- Montech XR Arc mid-tower case

I recently bought some parts like the case, motherboard, and PSU. I’m really focusing on possibly upgrading the GPU or even the CPU without spending too much.

A solid upgrade path would be to look at a new GPU like the 5060 Ti or the 9060 XT, both featuring 16GB of VRAM. Your CPU is decent, but if you're aiming for a performance boost, upgrading to an i7 11700 could be beneficial for your gaming needs. That said, your current setup should suffice for now if you're not pushing for the latest titles.
