I'm considering getting a Ryzen 9800X3D and I'm curious about what motherboard would be best to accompany it. Do I really need to go with an X870 or X870E motherboard, or would a B850 do the job? Also, I'd appreciate any recommendations for specific motherboards! Additionally, what RAM speed should I be looking for?

Honestly, you'll be fine with just about any decent board. I’m currently using my 9800X3D with an Asus TUF B650, and I still get PCIe 5.0 support, 6000MHz RAM, and plenty of performance. The only real benefits of a higher-end board might be extra USB ports and some sleeker design.

You might want to check out some videos that explain the features of motherboards. Understanding what each chipset offers, like X870E or B850, is super helpful. Make sure to look for features that are important to you, like PCIe 5.0 slots or USB4 support. It’s fun to learn about all these components while building your PC!

I've been using a Gigabyte Aorus B850 for around nine months, and I have no complaints at all. It’s been solid for my needs.

I’d recommend the Gigabyte B850 Eagle. If you can manage it, aim for 6000-CL30 RAM, but be prepared that you might have to settle for a higher CL count these days.

I have the B850 Plus, and it’s been working just fine for me. What specific make and model are you considering? Also, what RAM and its speed are you using?
