I'm building my dream 4K gaming PC and have most of the specs sorted out. I'm going with an mATX setup in a CH270 case, and I'll be using a 9800x3D processor. The only part I'm unsure about is the GPU. The 5080 was my initial thought, but I've heard mixed opinions on its value compared to waiting for the Ti or Super variants. Then I've got the 5070 Ti in the mix, which is often compared to the 9070 XT. The AMD card is generally cheaper than the 5070 Ti. While budget isn't a huge concern for me (except when it comes to reaching 5090 prices), I still care about getting good value. The 5070 Ti is about 30% cheaper in my area, and the 9070 XT is around 20% cheaper than the 5070 Ti. I'm wondering if I'd regret choosing the 5080. Any advice?

For 4K gaming, the 5080 does the job, but it's not the best deal out there. I personally think you're better off aiming for 1440p high refresh rates if you're looking for value until prices settle down. However, with a 4K OLED, you want the best experience.
I'd lean towards the 9070 XT. It's currently outperforming the 5070 Ti and could improve even more with AMD's upcoming Redstone optimizations. If you're fine with possibly sacrificing the last few percentage points of performance for a better price, go for it!
Thanks for the advice! I'm really considering the 9070 XT now.
Definitely check out benchmarks for the specific games you play. While the 5080 might not give you the best dollar-to-performance ratio, it’ll provide the extra frames you might want for smoother gameplay.
Great suggestion! I'll look into that before making my decision.
Coming from someone who has gone through multiple 90 series cards, I find them to hold their value well over time. So, if you want to go all-in for that extra performance, the 5080 could be the right choice for you.
Interesting take! I just wish the prices were more reasonable for those top-tier options.
If you're going all out on a 4K build, I get you wanting value, but you might as well splurge for the best. The 5090 is a bit over the top, but honestly, the 5080 doesn’t feel right for a dream setup. If it's meant to be a top-tier build, consider how long you want it to last.
That’s a fair point. I guess sometimes I get caught up in weighing value too much. Maybe I should just go for performance.

I hear you! I already invested in a great 32" 4K OLED, so I want to match it with a rig that can handle the beauty.
