What’s the Best CPU Upgrade for a Failing Ryzen 5 3600?

Hey everyone! My CPU has been acting up for a while now. I suspect it's failing since I've been getting random crashes during a CPU-heavy game, causing my entire PC to freeze up. I have to force a restart each time, and I also deal with occasional mini freezes during the day. Right now, I have a Ryzen 5 3600, and I'm thinking about doing an upgrade. What would you suggest I look into for the best value for money?

Honestly, I’m leaning towards the idea that your CPU is probably fine. They don’t just fail randomly like that. There might be other problems at play, like issues with your RAM or SSD.

If you want great value, the Ryzen 5800X is a solid choice. Just keep in mind that the AM4 X3D chips are priced way too high now since production stopped last year.

You could consider the Ryzen 5600, 5700X, or 5800X—but double-check that your motherboard is compatible with the 5800X. Before you purchase anything, though, it might be worth troubleshooting to confirm it’s actually the CPU causing the issues.

Since RAM prices are pretty low right now, going with something from the 5000 series is a good way to get more for your money. For instance, I found a Ryzen 5600 for around €107—pretty amazing deal! Just steer clear of the 5500 and 5700 models, since they have less L3 cache.
