I've been using my PC since December 2018 and upgraded the CPU back in 2021. My initial plan was to upgrade the CPU, GPU, and PSU to stay on AM4 and have a solid setup that would last the next four to five years, particularly for 1080p gaming. I have a PowerColor Hellhound 9070XT ready to go, along with an 850W PSU. I was aiming for a Ryzen 5800X3D, but now I'm also considering the 5700X3D and the Ryzen 9 5900X since a friend suggested the latter. However, I'm concerned about missing out on the v-cache. The real dilemma is that 5700X3Ds are priced around 300€ used in Germany, which seems steep. What do you recommend I do?

I totally get the confusion! If you're only gaming, the 5800X3D is a solid choice with great performance, especially with that v-cache. But if you're getting mixed signals from your friend, maybe look for benchmarks for both the 5700X3D and 5900X to see which fits your needs better. And don't forget, future-proofing is key!
Honestly, if you can find an X3D AM4 CPU, that's impressive. But I think you should consider moving to AM5 instead. The 9070 XT is a bit overkill for 1080p; maybe look at the 9060 XT and go for the AM5 upgrade instead. It's all about the games you play, though; your options seem a bit off. Why the Ryzen 9 5900X? Are you doing more than just gaming?
