I'm trying to decide between the Intel Ultra 265K and the AMD R7 7800X3D for my build. I do about 60% gaming and 40% work, and while I know some might lean towards AMD, the 265K is significantly cheaper at around £200 compared to the R7 at £330. I've seen that the latest BIOS update for the 265K shows only a minor performance increase (maybe 1-2 fps) in gaming but seems to perform better in work-related tasks. I'm curious which CPU would be the best choice for my needs.

I'd go with the R7 7800X3D. The extra cash is worth it for better performance, especially if you're gaming. Plus, you'll probably appreciate the performance bump in work as well in the long run! By the way, don't forget to check if your keyboard is okay—it seems like it might be missing some keys!
I hear you on the keyboard thing! Gotta make sure everything's working right for gaming!
I recommend checking out some performance benchmarks for both CPUs that relate to the apps you use for work. If the 265K really shines there, it might make sense to go for it, especially if you’re not aiming for super-high FPS in games.
I’d pick the 265K for everything except hardcore 1080p gaming. Don’t stress too much about upgrading as most people stick with one setup for a while. If you plan on using it for at least five years, the 265K should keep you happy for a long time!
That’s the plan! I want to keep this CPU for at least 5 years.
Have you looked into the motherboard prices? Intel boards can be a bit pricey compared to AMD ones, which could affect your overall budget. Just something to consider!
Yeah, I found out it's about £140 for the Intel board and £120 for the AMD one.
Honestly, I think the cheaper Intel Ultra 265K is the way to go here, especially with a £130 price difference. You should also plan out which whole setup you want around each CPU before you make your final call, though!

Haha, I just type fast! But yeah, is the keyboard really that bad?
