Is it okay to use 4 sticks of RAM in my PC?

I have an Asus Prime z490-V motherboard that supports DDR4 RAM. I'm considering installing 4 sticks of 8GB RAM for a total of 32GB, but I don't do any overclocking and primarily use my computer for gaming. Will using 4 sticks cause any problems for my PC? Also, is it more beneficial to stick with 2 sticks instead?

You should be fine using 4 sticks of RAM! The motherboard has 4 slots for a reason, and it won't hurt your system. Just be aware that it might slightly slow down boot times because the BIOS will take longer to initialize everything.

With DDR4, you generally won't run into the same issues as with DDR5. Your Z490 motherboard should handle 4 sticks at the recommended speeds, like 3200MHz or 3600MHz. Just make sure to enable XMP when you set it up to get the best performance out of them!

So, I can enable XMP with 4 sticks and it should work just fine? Do all sticks need to be the same model, or just have the same specs?

While it's true that 2 sticks tend to be optimal for performance, if you're running low on memory, 4 sticks will definitely still help your system. You won't experience a huge hit just for adding extra sticks—especially if you're not overclocking.
