I have a Lenovo Ideapad that I bought two years ago with an Intel Pentium processor and 4GB of RAM. It's been running extremely poorly lately, and I mainly use it for school tasks like Word, Excel, Zoom, and Google Chrome about three hours a week. Unfortunately, the slow performance has made me late for online tests and quizzes. Now I'm considering investing in a new laptop. There's a Lenovo with an Intel Core i3 and 8GB of RAM priced at $400, compared to a $250 option with Intel Celeron. Will the more expensive laptop last longer, or should I just stick with the Celeron and expect to replace it in a couple of years?

Have you considered upgrading the RAM in your current laptop? Sometimes just adding more memory can significantly improve performance for the tasks you're using.
A big factor in your current laptop slowing down could be Google Chrome. It consumes a lot of resources. If you decide to stick with your current device or even with a new one, consider switching to a browser like Brave or Microsoft Edge, which are more memory-efficient. It might help with your performance issues.
For general schoolwork, the Intel Core i3 would definitely provide a better experience than an Intel Celeron. If you often find yourself getting frustrated with lag, the i3's performance and extra RAM will really help, especially if you're dealing with multiple applications at once. It's worth the extra investment if you're planning to use the laptop for a few years.

Just make sure to check exactly which i3 and Celeron models you're looking at, as performance can vary.
