Is It Worth Upgrading My 3700X CPU Given My Current Setup?

I've got a Ryzen 3700X paired with an RTX 2070 and recently snagged a 32GB kit of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200 RAM just as prices skyrocketed. Since I can't swing an AM5 upgrade this year due to the high cost of DDR5, I'm looking to get around 18 months of solid gaming out of my current rig before seeing what the future holds, maybe even considering a Steam Box if I'm no longer interested in tinkering.

My main question is whether it's worth upgrading the CPU right now. The 5700X3D would be ideal, but it's hard to find. The 5800X is cheaper, but it runs hot and would require a better cooler. Everyone keeps insisting that I should ditch DDR4 for AM5, but with RAM prices skyrocketing, is that still solid advice? I also wonder how powerful a GPU I could upgrade to before my current CPU bottlenecks performance at 1440p. My PSU is a decent-quality Corsair 750W that's aging, but I can easily swap it out if needed, and my motherboard is a capable Asus X570 Pro with a recent BIOS update for security fixes.

Check the speed and lane configuration of your secondary PCIe slot. If it's 3.0 x4 or higher, you might consider getting a used GPU and going for a dual GPU setup with lossless scaling. You can cap framerate at 60 fps and upscale to 120 fps. That could give you the best performance upgrade for the price!

That's an interesting thought! I hadn't considered multi-GPU setups in ages, since it seemed to fade out years ago. I'm also a bit cautious about my aging PSU, but the 2070 only needs one 12V supply. I appreciate the creative idea!
