I've been having a tough time getting my Nvidia GT 650M to work on Ubuntu 25.04. I'm facing issues with drivers and using Proton. Given that this is an older GPU, would it make sense to downgrade to Ubuntu 22.04 instead?

I get where you're coming from! Sometimes newer versions of Ubuntu can have compatibility issues with older hardware. I’d suggest testing 22.04 to see if it resolves the problems you're experiencing. Regular backups are a must before making any changes!
What drivers are you currently using? That can make a big difference in performance. If you're not having any luck with the Nvidia 470 or 580 versions, maybe trying Nouveau could be a temporary fix, but ultimately, sticking with Nvidia drivers tends to yield better results for gaming with Proton. Let me know how it goes!
