Hey everyone, I just upgraded to a 9070 XT from my old 2070, which only needed a 1x8 cable. I found two extra cables in the box, but both are 2x8. Here's a link to the image: [https://imgur.com/a/JfuDTfM](https://imgur.com/a/JfuDTfM). My question is: can I use one 1x8 cable along with one 2x8 cable, or should I go for one 1x8 with two 2x8 cables, only connecting one 8-pin on each? Is it risky to leave one 8-pin unconnected?

You’ve got it mostly right! Just use three cables: one 8-pin cable and two 2x8 cables, while only connecting one 8-pin from each of the 2x8 cables. As long as the graphics card has the power it needs, you are all set!
Honestly, using a combination like that is fine, especially if you’re managing your power supply properly. Just ensure you’re not trying to push too much power through those cables. Having different cables for each 8-pin is generally better, but what you’re suggesting should work without any issue.
That's good to know, thanks for the reassurance!

That makes sense! I was just concerned it might be unsafe not to connect all the pins.
