Hey everyone, I recently got a new PC and I'm planning to reuse the SSDs from my previous setup. My old system had an Intel i5, and now I'm switching over to a Ryzen 7. I'm wondering if I can just install the SSDs into the new machine right away and have everything boot up as it did before, or should I do a clean install of Windows 11 first and wipe the old storage? What's the best approach here?

You can usually just plug the old SSD into the new PC, and it should work without any issues. I've moved my SSD across different motherboards several times, and it's gone smoothly every time. But if you do encounter problems, you might need to reinstall Windows anyway.
Generally, it's fine to just transfer the old SSD into your new build. Just make sure the BIOS recognizes your boot drive correctly. Be aware, though; if anything goes wrong, a clean install might be your best bet. You'll need to get a new Windows activation since it's a new motherboard anyway, so keep that in mind.

Yeah, you might need to reactivate Windows. Just check Microsoft's guide for how to do it after a hardware swap.
