Best GPU for a Beginner Building a PC for Minecraft

I'm diving into the PC building realm for the first time and just snagged a Ryzen 9 9900x3d. I'm aiming to create an awesome setup to play Minecraft with shaders and some cool mods like distant horizons. I've learned that mods are CPU-intensive while shaders are all about the GPU. I'm considering getting an RTX card because of its ray tracing capabilities, but I'm pretty lost on how all the options stack up. I've heard mixed opinions about whether RTX cards are worth it or if there are better alternatives out there. My budget sits at $1200 to $1500, and with $500 already spent on the CPU, I'm hoping someone can enlighten me on whether I should only look at the 3000 series or if I should explore the 4000/5000 series models and which might be best for optimizing shaders. Ultimately, I'd love to future-proof my build since I plan to play more than just Minecraft! Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Just to clarify, is your budget including the CPU? If so, you've really spent a lot on the CPU relative to your needs for Minecraft. Prices for RAM are off the charts now, making budgeting tricky. However, if it's all about gaming and shaders, any 7000 series CPU is way more than enough, even the 5000 series. For GPUs, a 3090 is still pretty comparable to a 5070, but maybe consider a 4070 or 5070 that fits within your budget for optimal performance.

With your budget, I suggest going for either the 5080 or 5090, or whatever the best you can find in your price range. They'll handle upcoming games with ease, especially paired with that solid CPU you have.
