Why do I need to keep reapplying thermal paste every few months?

I've been experiencing a frustrating issue with my AMD 5600 CPU where the temperatures climb up to 96°C, even when I'm just doing simple tasks like downloading files. This leads to performance throttling, where the CPU speed drops from 3.5GHz to 2.5GHz. I've been reapplying thermal paste regularly, and while the temperatures decrease initially, they eventually rise again within 2-3 months. I'm using the stock cooler and I'm not sure if the thermal paste I have is the problem or if something else is going on. Can anyone help me figure out what's causing this continuous overheating?

It might also be a good idea to check if your rear exhaust fan is set to blow air out. If it’s pulling air in, it could be causing hot air to circulate in the case, contributing to high CPU temps.

That’s an easy fix if that’s the case! Good catch!

I'll check that too, thanks for the tip!

Have you thought about switching up your thermal paste? Using something like Arctic MX-4 or MX-6 could make a difference. If the problem continues, you might be looking at a faulty CPU cooler or mounting issue.

Good suggestion! Quality thermal paste can really help with heat management.

I haven't, but I’m definitely considering it now.

You mentioned you're using Corsair TM30, which is decent, but maybe consider a better aftermarket cooler? Even a budget one could keep temperatures in check a lot better than the stock cooler.

Solid advice! An aftermarket cooler is usually a good move for better performance.

I’ll look into some budget options, thanks!
