Is it worth adding an extra SSD to my PC build?

I'm in the process of building my PC and currently have two 2 TB SSDs with speeds of 6000 MB/s each. I'm considering whether to add another 2 TB SSD that has a speed of 10000 MB/s. My main concern is if 6000 MB/s is sufficient for running big open-world games, or if upgrading to the faster SSD would actually improve the gaming experience. I'm thinking about using the existing drives for retro games, modern linear games, emulation, movies, and the like. What do you think?

Those speeds you're looking at are sequential speeds, which usually don't have a huge impact on gaming. Most games aren't composed of one big file, so they won't really benefit from the extra speed of a 10000 MB/s SSD. If you're just looking for more storage space, it makes sense to add another SSD, but don't feel pressured into getting the faster one unless you really need that extra speed.

Totally get it! I think sticking with another 6000 MB/s SSD sounds smart, especially since you’re focused on storage for games and movies. If speed isn't going to make a difference for your games, save your bucks for other upgrades!
