Why Do My Laptop Drivers Randomly Disappear?

I'm having a frustrating issue with my Asus Vivobook Pro 15, where the drivers for my trackpad and sometimes even the Wi-Fi just don't get detected. It seems to happen randomly - one moment they're working, and the next they're completely missing from the settings, almost as if they're not even there! When I restart the laptop, everything works fine again, so I'm curious if this is a Windows problem or if any updates might help resolve it.

You might want to try disabling fast startup in the power settings. That can sometimes help with driver issues, as it forces your system to boot fresh each time, ensuring that all drivers load properly.

I've already turned that off since it was draining my battery too quickly.

Have you checked for optional updates in Windows? Sometimes, if you go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options > Optional Updates, Windows will suggest driver updates. If you don’t find anything there, try right-clicking on the Windows icon on the taskbar, opening Device Manager, and deleting the driver for your trackpad or Wi-Fi. Restarting your laptop should automatically reinstall those drivers. If that doesn’t work, you might want to download the latest drivers directly from Asus’s website. Also, if your touchpad isn't working, here's a tip: in Device Manager, you can click on 'View' and select 'Show Hidden Devices' to check if the driver is hidden there.

Oh, and don’t forget you can run the Asus DriverHub. It automatically detects your hardware and finds the latest drivers for you!

Thanks for the tips! Just to clarify, when I restart my laptop, the drivers are detected, so they are installed, but sometimes they just don’t show up until I restart.
