I'm new to building computers and I'm looking to upgrade the RAM on my prebuilt system, which currently only has a single 8GB stick. I've heard that upgrading RAM is relatively straightforward. What amount of RAM would be ideal? I've been suggested a 2x32GB setup, but is that too much? My system specs are an AMD Ryzen 5 3600, an AMD Radeon RX 580, with a 2TB HDD and a 240GB SSD.

A 2x32GB kit would be way more than what you actually need for your setup. Unless you're planning to upgrade to a higher-end AMD processor later, I would suggest going for a 2x8GB kit instead. It'll be a good short-term fix until you're ready for a full upgrade. Plus, check for second-hand options to save some cash!

Thanks for clarifying! So, just to confirm, you mean it's overkill in terms of price, not that the performance would be worse, right? You just think it's not worth it unless I eventually upgrade?
