I've had my Ryzen 7 5800X for almost five years and was planning to upgrade to the 9800X3D. However, due to the recent surge in RAM prices, I'm thinking of putting that money towards a new GPU to replace my 3070 instead. I got my 3070 during the crypto boom, right before prices normalized, which was a bummer. Now, my question is: will my 5800X hold up for the next five years of gaming? By the time I can afford new RAM, I might be running on an ancient motherboard setup. I should be able to upgrade to a 9070XT during that time, so I'd like to hear your thoughts!

If I were you, I’d stick with your CPU for now. The 5800X is still a good performer. You have a couple of options: keep your 3070 and save for a while, or grab a new GPU now before prices rise again. Just keep an eye on the market for deals. The 9070XT is definitely a great choice for what you play!
You're good to go with your current rig! The upgrade to a 9070XT sounds great. Just ensure you have enough RAM for gaming—ideally, 32GB should cover you even with inflated prices for now.
Your 5800X is solid! There's really no need to upgrade it yet. Focus on getting a better GPU instead. It'll give you a nice boost in performance without breaking the bank right now. Plus, the 9070XT should serve you well for a few years alongside your CPU.
Totally agree! I've got a 5800X3D and I'm not even thinking of upgrading until AM6 comes out.
Exactly! Prices are climbing, so make sure to act quickly if you see a good GPU deal.
I think your 5800X will pair just fine with a 9070XT for several years. It's a capable CPU, especially if you mostly play single-player games.
Honestly, I think the 5800X will be fine for what you're playing. Just prioritize getting that GPU upgrade when you can. RAM can wait a bit. Keep enjoying your gaming experience!
Yeah, just focus on the GPU upgrade. I've got a similar setup, and I'm really happy with it!
Your CPU is still strong given your gaming type. Get a better GPU and you should be good for a while! Just consider the prices on GPUs and RAM could fluctuate, so be smart about your timing.

Waiting sounds smart, but don't sleep on good GPU deals either! Prices are unpredictable.
