I'm currently trying to game on Fedora 41 but I'm facing issues with session types and managing multiple monitors—specifically three screens. I've experimented with KDE in X11, GNOME, and Wayland. I have Vulkan, Wine, and Proton set up, and I'm also trying to virtualize Windows 11 using Virtio-win, but I'm struggling to get the games to run smoothly, even on low graphics settings.

You might want to check out resources like the distro selection page on some Linux forums for more insights. Also, take regular backups, and try experimenting in a VM to get a feel for the commands before executing them!

At the end of the day, it might be worth considering Windows for gaming since the NVIDIA drivers on Linux can be pretty frustrating.

There are a few great gaming-focused distros out there, like CachyOS, Bazzite, and Nobara. However, keep in mind that the performance difference between these gaming distros and regular options like Kubuntu or Mint isn't huge. Personally, I prefer sticking with Kubuntu for my gaming needs.

Fedora is pretty good with NVIDIA; it often has newer drivers. Have you checked out the RPM Fusion guide for installing the NVIDIA driver? The built-in driver isn't ideal for gaming.

What are your system specs? Knowing your hardware can really help assess what's causing the issues.

Just a heads up, Fedora 41 is end-of-life. Have you tried upgrading to Fedora 43? I know it has some updates that might help with your configuration.

If you're looking for a user-friendly experience with NVIDIA drivers already included, Pop!_OS might be a good option for you.

Honestly, almost any distro will work fine as long as you install the proper NVIDIA drivers. I would recommend not using a VM for gaming. You might be missing the GPU pass-through setup, which is essential for performance.
