Is Upgrading to Ryzen 7 5700X a Good Move for My Setup?

I recently received a used 9070 GPU from a neighbor, which they gave me after their son sadly passed away. I currently use a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU and game at 3440 x 1440p. I'm considering upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5700X to prevent any bottlenecking and to enhance performance for the future. However, I'm cautious about my 650W power supply and want to avoid pushing my system too hard. I'd really appreciate any advice on this upgrade!

Upgrading to the 5700X is definitely a good pick, and it should match well with your 9070 GPU. You've got this!

The 5000 series CPUs are still very good, especially for gaming at 3440 x 1440p, as the GPU will play a larger role than the CPU at that resolution. If you're budget-conscious, you might also consider the 5600X, which is a great performer and often cheaper. 5800X could be a good deal if you find it on sale, but it does draw more power.

Yeah, I was eyeing the 5800X too, but it might push your PSU a bit more than you'd like. Stick with what keeps your system safe!

I'm running a 5600X with a 6750XT at 1440p, and it works perfectly for me! Games only really push my CPU utilization during demanding titles. If your 650W PSU is the minimum spec for the 9070, you may want to monitor the load closely to avoid issues.

The Ryzen 7 5700X is definitely a solid choice for an upgrade! It should provide great performance for your setup. You'll likely see noticeable improvements in your gaming experience, especially with modern titles. Just keep an eye on your power supply usage, but you should be fine!

I've noticed the 5700X pairs well with GPUs like yours. The only big concern is bottlenecking at lower resolutions, which shouldn't be a problem for your 3440 x 1440p.
