I'm looking to install Linux on my Lenovo ThinkCentre that has an Intel Pentium x86 processor and 4GB of RAM. Initially, I considered Linux Mint, but I'm now leaning towards MX Linux. I'm searching for a lightweight and user-friendly option that still allows me to run Steam and handle basic tasks. My experience is limited; the only Linux I've installed before was Tails. What Linux distros would you recommend for my setup?

Given your older system, I'd suggest looking into lightweight Linux distributions. Lubuntu, AntiX, and MX Linux are all great options. Typically, running XFCE will give you better performance as it's more resource-efficient. Just remember, the applications you intend to run might impact your experience more than the OS itself.
Both Mint and MX with XFCE would work well. XFCE is less flashy and has a reputation for being solid and effective. But do keep in mind that with only 4GB of RAM, you might want to manage your browser tabs carefully. Also, are you looking at more demanding games or older, less resource-heavy ones?
Make sure to check if your Lenovo can handle a 64-bit OS, or if it’s limited to 32-bit. Tiny Core OS and Mini OS are also lightweight options. But be cautious about gaming; with an Intel Pentium and 4GB RAM, performance might not be ideal for running Steam.
