I'm currently using a 2 TB 980 Pro as my primary storage and I'm looking to add another 2 TB SSD. I'm considering options like the 990 EVO at $150, the 990 EVO Plus at $177, and the 990 Pro at $190. Since this new drive will mainly be for games and I'm running low on space, I want to know if there's a significant performance difference between these options, especially if I lean towards the regular 990 EVO due to its lower price. Are there any better value alternatives I should consider?

I've read that the only real performance boost from a faster drive is noticeable when transferring files larger than 10% of the available space on the drive. So, if you're mainly gaming, you might not see much difference.
I'm using a 990 EVO as my second game drive and it's more than fast enough. You really won’t notice any difference with the pricier models for gaming. The extra cost just isn't worth it.
For a secondary drive, you probably won’t reach the rated speeds anyway. Honestly, a standard SATA 2TB SSD would be a more budget-friendly choice, and it would load games just fine.
The 990 Pro has DRAM, which the EVO models don't, and that's the main performance difference aside from speed. But honestly, for gaming, the EVO will do just fine. It's a solid choice without breaking the bank.

Exactly! The $27 difference for an extra 7,000 MB/s vs. 5,000 MB/s doesn’t seem justified. I bet the load time difference is minimal, like 0.5 seconds max.
