I'm wrapping up my first PC build and I've already exceeded my budget by upgrading the CPU from a Ryzen 5 9600X to a Ryzen 7 9700X, and the power supply from a Corsair RM650e to an RM850x. Now, I'm stuck deciding between the Aorus Elite B650 AX V2 and the B850 Aorus Elite. My use case primarily involves light photo editing, media management, and some basic Excel tasks. I plan to leave room for a 9060XT GPU in the future, just in case I get into gaming—though right now, I primarily game on a PS5 and I don't intend to switch to PC gaming full-time.

When it comes to motherboards, find one that fits your taste and meets your requirements. Don't stress too much about the details unless you're aiming for extreme performance. Just make sure it has the ports and features you need for your setup!
They do matter if you're into performance, though. Cheap boards can lead to stability problems with hungry components. Better boards often have improved VRMs, more ports, and enhance the overall experience.
The B650 should work just fine for your needs. The main benefit of the B850 is its support for Gen5 SSDs, but since you're getting a top-notch Gen4 SSD like the Samsung 990 Pro, you won't miss out on anything significant. You're good to go with the B650!
I just returned a Gen5 SSD I ordered for a 4TB Samsung 990 Pro instead! Definitely sticking with the B650 now, thanks for the help!

Yeah, I keep getting caught up in all the specs online and it's overwhelming. Thanks for the reminder!
