Why Can My Twin Unlock My Phone but I Can’t Unlock His?

I have an identical twin, and it's strange that he can access my iPhone 15 using Face ID, but I can't access his phone with my face. We've both set up only one face on our phones, and even after removing and redoing the Face ID setup in the same way, the situation hasn't changed. Can anyone explain why this is happening?

You could try enrolling each other's faces. It might be that your twin's face is just close enough to override the security on your phone. Face ID can be pretty quirky with identical twins!

Have you considered setting up Face ID for both of you on each other's phones? If he can unlock yours, you might want to have the ability to unlock his as well, just to keep things balanced.

According to Apple, the chances of a random person unlocking your phone with Face ID is really low, about less than 1 in 1,000,000. However, there are exceptions for identical twins. You mentioned you both have the same software and hardware, yet it's odd that only he can access your phone. Have you thought about how TwinFaceID might work in practice?
