Why can my friend see files on my PC but not on his?

I downloaded a game onto my friend's drive since his internet is slow. I unplugged his main drive, connected it to my PC, and installed the game without any issues. However, when he returned home and reconnected the drive, he couldn't find the game files. We checked again on my PC and the files were still there. Could the issue be related to how the drive is recognized on his PC versus mine (it's his main drive on his system but shows up as drive J on mine)? How can we resolve this?

Another possibility is that the files might be hidden on his system. Make sure he checks the folder options to show hidden files and folders. Sometimes settings get changed, and files can be accidentally hidden. If everything seems fine, consider doing a virus scan just to be safe; it's not common, but malware can sometimes affect how files are displayed.

It sounds like your friend's PC isn't recognizing the drive the same way yours does, which can happen if the drive letters change. Try checking the drive's properties on his PC to ensure everything is working correctly. Sometimes, if the drive isn't being assigned the right letter, the files can seem to disappear. You might also want to check if the drive is formatted correctly; you can do that by looking at Disk Management in Windows.
