I've got an HP Pavilion laptop that's about 4-5 years old, and it's running really slow. I haven't used it in a while, so that might be part of the issue. I'm looking for some effective ways to boost its performance and make it faster.

One of the best things you can do to speed up your laptop is to check if it has an SSD. If not, swapping out the old hard drive for an SSD can drastically improve performance. Also, upgrading your RAM can help—especially if you currently have around 5.88GB usable. I’ve seen older laptops run like beasts after just a little memory boost!
Also, you might want to check your task manager to see which part of your system is slowing you down. Knowing whether it’s the CPU, memory, or something else can help target your upgrades better!
Don't forget to clean out any unnecessary programs! Uninstall stuff you don’t use anymore, and make sure to open the bottom cover to get rid of any dust! A clean laptop can run so much better.
I still think upgrading to an SSD could be your best bet if you want a noticeable difference. It's a bit more work, but worth it!
