Should I Upgrade My Computer Components or Buy a New One?

I'm currently using a decent computer that handles most games well, but I'm looking to upgrade since I play some demanding games and multitasking has become more difficult. I'm considering upgrading to 32GB of RAM and switching to an RTX 5060 GPU. My current specs are: CPU: 11th gen i5-11400, GPU: RTX 2060, RAM: 16GB DDR4, and my motherboard is an ASUS Prime B560M-K. I'm trying to figure out whether it's better to do an upgrade or just invest in a whole new setup.

If you want to go for 32GB of RAM, keep in mind your motherboard only has two slots. So since you likely have two 8GB sticks, you'll need to replace those with new sticks to upgrade. For the GPU, upgrading to an RTX 5060 could be tricky since many games are starting to require more VRAM. Consider checking out the RX 9060 XT 16GB or the 5060 Ti 16GB instead, though they might be pricier.

I recently upgraded my GPU from an old 1070 to a 4070, and it really breathed new life into my setup. Even with your current i5, installing a new GPU can give a significant performance boost. Just be aware that older PCIe slots might bottleneck it a bit, but it should still work fine. So, upgrading the GPU might be a great first step before considering a complete rebuild.

Are there any compatibility issues I should be concerned about when upgrading?

Honestly, I suggest just swapping out the GPU first and seeing how that goes. If you're still not happy, then think about updating your motherboard, CPU, and RAM. There's no point in getting DDR4 RAM for that motherboard if you're planning a bigger upgrade later.
