I recently did a fresh Windows install to keep my system clean, but McAfee is really causing chaos on my PC. It's using up 10GB of RAM and hogging about 70% of my CPU and GPU resources. In fact, it's not the first time I've had issues with it; it previously overloaded and broke my RTX 3080. Now, I need help getting rid of what feels like malware masquerading as antivirus software. I can't access many websites, especially those with tools to uninstall McAfee. My PC is making a jet engine noise, and I'm at a loss on how to turn off McAfee. What should I do?

If the regular uninstall through Programs isn't doing the trick, I recommend using Revo Uninstaller. It can dig deeper than the usual add/remove programs. However, if you did a clean install and removed the system partition, McAfee shouldn't have stuck around. Something's not right there.
You're spot on; McAfee is definitely the culprit here. I struggled with it, too. Just try to remove it in Safe Mode like others suggested, and make sure no other antivirus is conflicting with it. You might need to tweak some settings after you manage to uninstall it to get everything running smoothly again.
Honestly, I don't get why anyone would want to stick with McAfee. Have you tried uninstalling it in Safe Mode? It can make a world of difference. Once that's done, you could switch to Windows Defender instead, which is pretty good these days.
That's a solid recommendation. Just make sure to keep trying if you run into issues!

I heard Safe Mode is a good option if you don't want the internet messing with the uninstall. Let me know how it goes!
