Looking for Advice on My First PC Build

Hey everyone! I'm building my first PC and I've done a bit of research on the parts I'm considering. The main goal is to eventually run games at 4K, but for now, I just want it to handle 1440p smoothly. I'll also be doing some coding on this build. I've heard differing opinions about whether the X3D CPU is better solely for gaming, so I wanted to gather some advice! Here's my part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kHzxPJ

I think your build looks solid, but you don't need the expensive AIO cooler unless for aesthetics—the Phantom Spirit 120 air cooler would handle your CPU just fine. Also, consider swapping your motherboard to a B850, as it gives you everything you need without splurging. That 990 Pro SSD is nice, but make sure it's worth the speed for your use case. The 5070 Ti is a good card for the price, and the 7900X is powerful, but might be overkill for coding unless you're doing demanding tasks.

That's really helpful, thanks! I'm definitely looking for the best bang for my buck.

Hey! It looks like you might save some cash without sacrificing performance by rethinking the Samsung 870 Evo SSD. If you already have it from an old build, maybe upgrade to something faster. The Ryzen 9 7900X is an excellent choice for multi-threading, but if you're focusing on gaming, the X3D could be better. Also, consider dropping the AIO cooler for a solid air cooler unless you want the RGB look, in which case, I get it!

Thanks! I appreciate the insight! I was unsure about storage options, so I'll definitely look into upgrading.

I see you’re going for a really nicely specced build! It’s true the 7900X excels in multi-threaded tasks, but if gaming is your main focus, you might want to consider the X3D, as it will perform better in that area. The cache design helps with game performance for faster access. Don't forget about power supplies—there are cheaper yet high-quality options out there. Sometimes you can get a lesser PSU and still have plenty of overhead without overspending.

Thank you for breaking that down! I didn't realize how the differences in CPUs could impact performance.

Great start with the build! There's no need to overspend on the motherboard—stick to something more affordable that has the features you’ll use. It's also worth sticking with an NVMe SSD for better performance and a cleaner look. If you’re coding, the X3D won't hurt you; it’s all about finding the right balance for your specific tasks!

Good to know! I really want to strike that balance between performance and cost.
